Rice has 680 full-time and 190 part-time faculty members as of fall 2017. They teach and conduct research in Rice's eight academic schools: School of Architecture, Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies, George R. Brown School of Engineering, School of Humanities, Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, The Shepherd School of Music, Wiess School of Natural Sciences and School of Social Sciences.
Of our 680 full-time instructional faculty, 99 percent have a Ph.D. or a terminal degree in their academic fields. Because of highly productive faculty, Rice ranks among the top 10 percent of institutions* based on citations per faculty.
