Associate Vice Provost/Associate Vice President for Institutional Research and Analysis
Sivakumar Jaganathan joined the OIR on Aug 17, 2016 in this position. Reporting jointly to the Provost and to the Vice President for Finance, his office is responsible for providing high level, analytically-based advice to inform Rice’s most important decisions. In this position he will be leading and developing a collaborative team of high quality staff to support the IR office, building a pipeline and community of analytical professionals, and fostering a culture of strategic and data informed decision-making. For the past two years, Shiva served as executive director for the University of Connecticut’s Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, where he built a data warehouse and led the creation of a more updated institutional research office to support assessment, accreditation and other administrative needs. He also helped create a data warehouse for the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where he spent 18 years in various leadership roles.
Adele James joined the Office of Institutional Research as a Research Analyst in January 2013 supporting Academic Analytics, internal and external survey projects, and other research analysis. Before moving to IR, Adele joined Rice in 2007 as the project administrator for the Portraits of American Life Study, a longitudinal study following the same nationally representative sample of adults over time to understand the impact of religion in everyday life.
Adele’s prior experience has been as a planning analyst in health care and the natural gas industries. She holds an MBA from the University of Houston, and a BA from Rice University.
Hema Sarathy is an Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research at Rice University. Prior to Rice, Hema worked in marketing research at Parks Associates, Millward Brown and Frost & Sullivan. Her market research and consulting experiences aid and fuel her interest in institutional research and analysis.
Hema holds a Master of Marketing Research degree from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville and a Master of Management Studies degree from BITS-Pilani, India.
Christy Witt joined the Office of Institutional Research at Rice
University in December 2013. Prior to
working at Rice, Christy conducted economic research at Applied Economics
Consulting Group, Inc. in Austin, TX, and provided non-profit development
direction and database management to a number of non-profit organizations in
Austin and Houston. Christy is a passionate
empiricist who enjoys conducting high quality quantitative research to inform
strategic and policy decisions at Rice University.
Christy holds a BA in French and Psychology from the
University of Kansas and a MA and Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Louisiana
